Unfortunately, due to a client issue, my feet did not hit the pavement until 7:30.

Ah, yes, the price of responsibility and a career. You know, I had tickets to two Elvis Costello concerts -- one four years ago in Seattle, the other last year in Chicago. I missed them both having to work late.
I am convinced that you are almost jinxing yourself if you build yourself up for leaving work early if you post about it on your blog.
