While trolling on websites this morning, trying to sooth the stings of yesterday's thumping of USC by LSU, I came across the Cromer's Peanuts Web site.
Guess what? They are still guaranteed worst in town.
What a slice of nostalgia this morning. I mostly remember the store they had in Dutch Square with the real monkeys in the glass cages. As a kid, that added so much to the Cromer's experience. As an adult, I can only imagine what the store employees had to go through on the upkeep of the animals.

"Thumping" is a bit harsh - we weren't going to win, but came back a little to at least beat the spread. Looked better than I thought we would, so I'll live with the loss. As long as we "thump" MSU next week.
And the monkeys at Cromers - classic.
Hmmm. I hope they had one of those "Employees must wash hands" signs up by the monkey cage.
By the way, that guarantee is about as good as a Best Buy extended warranty.
I forgot about those monkeys behind the glass. Remember the Barrel of Fun? Back in the day that was about the only place to get your video game fix.
But, which was better, Barrel of Fun or Aladdin's Castle (in the Bush River Mall)?
I though that BOF had style, and the entrance was killer.
Come to think of it, Dutch Square was really a cool mall. I remember the original Waldenbooks with the non-chain like layout.
I had forgotten the Barrel of Fun and Aladdins. Great places to blow a roll of quarters while you waited for your movie to start. I suppose the convenience of having video games at home has its merits, but I miss the sounds and smell of an arcade.
I've gotta go with Aladdin's castle. That Walden's was my favorite. I bought many a Cliff Note from there for Dr. Maddox's classes...
